GUJRANWALA: Robbers snatched cash, gold and other valuables in over a dozen hits on Friday in Gujranwala district. According to police, four robbers intercepted Alam in Nowshera Virkan and snatched Rs 117,000 and his cell phone. In Sadar Wazirabad, robbers snatched Rs 40,000, gold and cell phone from Iqbal. In Ladhewala, Asmat was deprived of Rs 30,000 and her cell phone on gun point. In Cantonment, robbers snatched Rs 60,000, three cell phones and gold ornaments from Hashim and his family. In Ferozwala, robbers snatched Rs 100,000, gold and cell phone from Hamid. In Qila Didar Singh, robbers took away Rs 43,000 and a cell phone from Farooq. In Baghbanpura, robbers snatched Rs 50,000 and two cell phones from Farman. In Ladhewala, Musawar and his wife were deprived of Rs 40,000, gold ornaments and cell phones on gun point. In Gill Road area, robbers snatched Rs 15,000, a motorcycle and cell phone from Chand Butt. In Gakhar Mandi, robbers snatched Rs 52,000, two cell phones and gold from Shafqat. In Kamoki, Farakh was deprived of Rs 37,000 and two cell phones on gun point. In Tatlayali, robbers snatched Rs 72,000 and cell phone from Khalil. In Baghbanpura, robbers snatched Rs 22,000 and cell phone from Owais. Gunmen snatched Rs 29,000 and a motorcycle from Sikandar from Gujranwal. Unidentified thieves broke into the houses of Mansoor, Matti Ullah, Shabbir and Waheed and stole valuables. A motorcycle was stolen from Satellite Town, Gujranwala. FIA: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) teams arrested a Gepco meter reader from Kamoki as well as two human traffickers from Narowal and Gujrat on Friday. The meter reader was arrested over allegations that he had received Rs 45,000 from a citizen as bribes. Akhtar Ali and Shahzad were involved in human trafficking. Man drowns: A young man drowned in a canal in Wazirabad. Two others died in road accidents in and Nowshera Virkan and Gujranwala. Abdullah was swimming in the canal at Ladhewala Warriach when he drowned in deep waters. Rescue 1122 later fished out the body. Fayyaz, a resident of Muslim Town, was travelling on his motorcycle when a speeding car hit him. He died on the spot. In another incident, Bashir Ansari, 55, was crossing the road when a car crushed him to death.
