Sir: The people of Gilgit-Baltistan love education and this is the main reason the area has the fastest growing literacy rate in the country. Unfortunately the government has been neglecting the healthcare system in Gilgit-Baltistan. In this modern age, it is very strange that there is not a single medical college in Gilgit-Baltistan. Many talented students get good marks in the pre-medical degree, but their dreams are not translated into reality due to poverty and absence of any medical college in Gilgit-Baltistan. Many students cannot afford to go to other cities to get medical education. Lack of doctors is a major issue here and the absence of a medical college has also increased the woes of people. The elected government has made utopian plans but nothing has been done yet. The government is busy distributing jobs to its near and dear ones. I request the federal government to solve this issue as soon as possible. Ikram Sheikh Gilgit
