GUJRANWALA: PHA Director General Tariq Kareem Khokhar said that the Parks and Horticulture Authority has launched a beautification campaign in the city. All important roads were being decorated with green belts, statue of animals and culture were also placed at the different intersections. Talking to Daily Times, he said, “Although there were shortage of funds and equipments, we are trying our best to turn the city into green Gujranwala.” He said PHA officers are facing troubles to look after the green belts and parks due to shortage of vehicles and modern machinery but PHA officers and staff have a passion to change the city look more beautiful in available sources. Tariq Kareem further said that all the parks are being upgraded with more facilities, lack of Gulshan Iqbal Park will be facilitated with boats to make it more attractive for the visitors. He said, “There are other plans but due to a shortage of funds it could not be completed in a fast pace but we are sure that with the cooperation of higher authorities and citizens we shall soon be able to bring the Gujranwala a city of flowers.” Published in Daily Times, July 20th , 2017.
