LAHORE: Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) would carry out a countrywide campaign for eradication of extremism, terrorism and sectarian violence, and to express solidarity for defence and security of Harmain Al Sharifain.
Pakistan Ulema Council’s provincial executive body meeting was held on Sunday under the chair of PUC Chairman Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi. It was decided that the council would carry out ‘Muslims Awareness Caravan’ from Lahore to Rahim Yar Khan with an aim to raise awareness among people about confronting challenges of the Muslim world. The rally would be commencing from Nov 27 until Nov 30.
“PUC also decided to arrange ‘Unity of Ummah Conference’ in the first week of December,” said PUC Chairman Ashrafi, adding that missile attack on Mecca by Houthi rebel tribes of Yemen is tantamount to attack on entire Muslim community. He said the council would also arrange a ‘World Ulemas Conference’ against this cowardly attack of Houthi tribes.
While condemning the blast in Shah Noorani Shrine, Ashrafi said that enemies of Pakistan wanted to create sectarian violence in the country to foil the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, adding that CPEC would be completed and conspiracies of enemies would be foiled. He said that entire nation is united for the cause of CPEC.
Responding to a query, Ashrafi said that PUC would participate in next general elections of the country. “We want transparent accountability process to prevail and targeting any specific political party and individual would be nothing except victimisation. Either Panamagate or newsgate, the nation is waiting for transparent justice to be made,” he added. The PUC chairman also announced formation of ‘Darul Aftha’ in Pakistan to provide ideological and religious guidance to the people.
The PUC meeting was attended by district office bearers including Hafiz Amjad Muhawia from Gujarawala, Maulana Faheemul Hassan from Sheikhupura, Maulana Azam Farooq from Faisalabad, Maulana Saadullah from Toba Tek Singh, Maulana Ahmed Makki from Muzafargarh, Mufti Umar Farooq from Khanewal, Maulana Saadullah from Rahim Yar Khan, Maulana Hafizur Rehman from Rawalpindi, Maulana Tariq Nadeem from Pakpatan, Maulana Abu Bakar from Chakwal and Maulana Waqar Usmani from Sargodha.
