ISLAMABAD: Curfew and restrictions remained in force in Kashmir and Chenab Valley in Jammu region for the 79th straight day to prevent freedom march in Srinagar, Kupwara, Baramulla, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Kulgam, Pulwama, Shopian and Islamabad districts. According to reports, call for the march was given by joint Hurriyet leadership. A large number of police and paramilitary personnel were deployed in the entire Kashmir Valley including Srinagar to prevent the march. The curfew continued in Kishtwar town, to quell the protests against the arrest of people including the two imams in the town. Hurriyet Conference and Hurriyet forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that India was strategically targeting Kashmiri youth. APHC spokesman said thousands of youth are being put behind bars under the notorious Public Safety Act and most of them are shifted outside Kashmir. The Chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Aasiya Andrabi, strongly denounced demolition of Muslim families’ houses in several areas of Jammu under the garb of anti-encroachment drive. Meanwhile, authorities have disclosed that 9,000 mosques been ‘playing an effective role’ in supporting the on-going uprising. They said that 19 FIRs have been registered against the responsible people of these mosques. Indian Army personnel started taking revenge of the anti-India uprising from ordinary Muslims. The Army killed a poor youth in vengeance, Wasim Ahmad working in a field at Nadihal in Rafiabad, yesterday. The troops went berserk and crushed over one dozen horses of poor Muslim families to death with an army truck in Frisal area of Kulgam district.
