Flawless beauty : Jennifer Aniston reveals the cure to wrinkles

Published on: May 13, 2016 9:36 PM

Saggy skin may soon become a distant and icky memory, and we owe it all to actress and producer Jennifer Aniston.

Sort of. At least, we owe it all to Jennifer Aniston and a bunch of super-smart scientists.

A team at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, developed a two-step transparent serum that both tightens saggy under-eye skin and wards off dryness.

An invisible wearable polymer called ‘second skin’, seems to act like a younger-looking layer of skin on top of your face. It lasts for days, and, over time, may even reshape your face, says the team that has developed the material.

The miracle product has been licensed to two companies – Olivo Labs and Living Proof, in which Aniston is an investor. So, basically, the A-lister is the reason you may soon be able to bid wrinkles a very smooth adieu.

A report published in scientific journal Nature Materials and co-written by a Harvard Medical School dermatologist concluded, “Until now, there has been nothing that could restore the elastic property of skin, and this material does that.”

“This would be Spanx for your face,” says, Stanford University California dermatologist Anne Lynn Chang, who was not involved in the research.

But others say, they are sceptical, and cannot judge whether the material really does reduce sagging and swelling without seeing more evidence.

Lead MIT scientist Robert Langer explained to NBC News that, the compound XPL, or “second skin”, can last for up to 16 hours and be applied daily. Plus, Langer said that when he tested it on himself, he didn’t even realise it was there, which is more than we can say for Spanx.
