Vin Diesel shares cast photo from the set of ‘Fast & Furious 8’

Published on: June 7, 2016 9:29 PM

Filming is underway on ‘Fast & Furious 8’ in a variety of locations, from the snow-covered landscape of Iceland to the city streets of Cleveland, but the franchise’s theme of family appears to remain intact even as ‘Straight Outta Compton’ helmer director F Gary Gray looks to be spearheading the biggest ‘Fast & Furious’ film yet.

Series star/godfather Vin Diesel has shared a new image from the set of ‘Fast & Furious 8’ that reveals the full main cast of the highly anticipated sequel, and boy does this thing look stacked.

First of all, there’s actress Charlize Theron as the sequel’s Big Bad, but actor Kurt Russell is also reprising his somewhat mysterious role from ‘Furious 7’. Initially, that film’s ending was supposed to tee Kurt Russell up for a larger part to play in ‘Fast & Furious 8’, but late actor Paul Walker’s untimely passing led to a major overhaul of that film’s finale, instead using the time to eulogise Paul Walker and his character. So one assumes the full extent of Russell’s character’s reach will be revealed in this globe-trotting adventure, but we’ve also got the return of actor Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw.

The other major newcomers to the ensemble are Scott Eastwood and ‘Game Of Thrones’ and ‘Force Majure’ actor Kristofer Hivju, who star alongside returning cast members Vin Diesel, singer and songwriter Tyrese Gibson, actress and screenwriter Michelle Rodriguez, rapper and entrepreneur Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, actor and producer Dwayne Johnson, and actress Nathalie Emmanuel, who made her first appearance in ‘Furious 7’

The cast of ‘Fast & Furious 8’ might be high-octane bad-asses on the big screen, but they’re just plain adorable behind the scenes of filming the franchise’s newest instalment. During a break from filming on Sunday, Diesel shared a group shot of the new movie’s cast featuring new additions Charlize Theron, model-turned-actor Scott Eastwood, and Kristofer Hivju. The group is all smiles – although nobody can match Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s level of elation.

This photo comes after the movie recently debuted a couple behind-the-scenes videos of the cast goofing around together and taking a trip to Iceland. ‘Fast & Furious 8’ races into theatres April 14, 2017.
