Aitzaz Ahsan apologises over remarks about Kulsoom Nawaz’s ailment

LAHORE: Pakistan People Party (PPP) Senator Aitzaz Ahsan expressed grief over Begum Kulsoom Nawaz death and said that he apologised to Sharif family for hurting their sentiments with his statement about Kulsoom Nawaz’s illness.

Aitzaz had doubted the illness of the former first lady and said “Harley Street Clinic is owned and operated by Sharif family.”

Commenting on the demise of the former first lady, Aitzaz said he is saddened that he could not apologise to Sharif family in Kulsoom’s life.

“I will attend Kulsoom Bibi’s funeral,” he said, adding: “I should have gone to the jail and met Nawaz Sharif.”

Begum Kulsoom Nawaz has died of cancer in London’s Harley Street clinic today.

She had been battling with lymphoma (throat) cancer since August 2017. According to reports, her health deteriorated last night after which she was placed on life support earlier today.

The former first lady will be laid to rest in Raiwand on Friday.

Leaders of all political parties, politicians, journalists and celebrities from all over the world have extended sorrow and grief over the sad demise of the former first lady.

Prime Minister Imran Khan in his message expressed deep sorrow and grief over Kulsoom’s death and said her family and heirs would be provided with all facilities as per law.
