“Pakistan faced dictatorship for long period of time”

Author: Online

ISLAMABAD: Opposition leader Syed Khursheed Shah said that politics is all about helping and doing good but in Pakistan this word has become synonym with abuse.

While speaking at a seminar opposition leader said that today’s wives also say to their husbands, “don’t play politics with us (Hum say siyasat mat karo)”. He said Punjabi, Sindhi, Muhajir, Baloch and Phathan have been divided through a negative thinking, we have to come out from this system of caste in order to come out from behaviour of intolerance.

He said that best political systems in the world speak for policy of tolerance because actual meanings of politics lie in helping and doing good. Pakistan had faced dictatorship for a long period of time, we had witnessed the rule of Ziaul Haq during which a special class of society was provided with protocol and a negative thinking became the reason behind division of Punjabi, Sindhi, Baloch, Phathan, and Muhajir.

To enter into caste system from nationality is the first step towards this division. Today we have indulged so much in this Biradri system that people cast their votes on Biradri basis.

We will have to come out of this caste system in order to depart from attitude of intolerance. Media should also play its due role to promote power of tolerance in the people, he urged.
