Birthday presents revealed : Princess Charlotte is showered with gifts from around the world

Author: Daily Times Monitor

Like most babies, Princess Charlotte is celebrated her first birthday with a showering of gifts.

But not all one-year-olds will be spoiled with presents from 64 countries around the world, ranging from Armenia to Zambia.

Over the last 12 months the infant has received gifts and letters from schools, community groups and well-wishers across the world, including blankets, clothes, cards, books, toys and hand-knitted bootees.

Among the gifts include a New Zealand Rugby sleepsuit and Wellington Rugby snowsuit, given to her uncle Prince Harry during his tour of New Zealand. UK Prime Minister David Cameron gave Princess Charlotte a copy of Hand Christian Anderson’s Fairy Tales.

A cot blanket made from Tasmanian merino wool sourced from Launceston’s renowned Waverley Woollen Mills was the gift from the Australian Government. It’s embroidered with the Australian floral emblem, the wattle, by members of the ACT Embroiderers’ Guild, and contributed $10,000 to the Healesville Sanctuary, part of Zoos Victoria, to support the important work it is doing for the Mountain Pygmy-possum

The prime minister of Canada gave a snowsuit, a book, and made a $100,000 donation to Immunise Canada.

A selection of teddy bears, baby blankets and bootees, all made from Stansborough wool, was gifted by the prime minister of New Zealand.

During the Chinese state visit Princess Charlotte was given a set of silk figurines, depicting the traditional Chinese story, ‘Dream of the Red Chamber’.

The president of Mexico and Se?ora Angélica Rivera gave Princess Charlotte a silver rattle during the 2015 Mexican state visit.

The president and the First Lady of the US gave Princess Charlotte a children’s rocking chair and baby blanket after she was born.

During their recent visit to the UK, they gave Princess Charlotte a jigsaw and a ‘Bo’ teddy, to match Prince George’s. In Bhutan, both Prince George and Princess Charlotte were given coats by Their Majesty The King and Queen of Bhutan.

A spokesman for Kensington Palace said, “The duke and duchess of Cambridge are incredibly grateful for all the letters, gifts and good wishes they have been fortunate to receive in the year since Princess Charlotte was born.” The princess enjoyed her first birthday party yesterday (Monday) – with the guest list for her birthday shindig likely to include Prince Charles and grandparents Carole and Michael Middleton.

Prince William and Kate hosted their royal family at their country mansion, Anmer Hall in Norfolk. Adorable photographs were released of the young princess on Sunday, showing she has definitely inherited her mum’s poise in front of the camera. The pictures show Charlotte playing happily at home. And Kate is a natural behind the camera too, as she took all the photos.
