ISLAMABAD: Despite lapse of one month of new academic year, the Federal Directorate of Education and National Book Foundation (NBF) could not ensure 100% provision of free books to the students of the federal public schools.
Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) had directed the FDE and NBF last month to ensure the provision of free books to the students by 30th of April but both the organizations were unable to accomplish the task.
It was also witnessed last year when the FDE could not provide free textbooks to the students of some 422 educational institutions in time, while NBF has no capacity to publish these books in large number.
According to FDE official, 80% curriculum books have been published by NBF and these books have also been distributed among the school children.
Parents of the students have expressed dissatisfaction over the slow process of FDE and NBF to provide the books to the students. They have urged for working out a permanent solution of the problem to avoid such situation in future.
