LAHORE: A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) against the Civil Administration Ordinance 2016.

Mehmood Akhtar Naqvi, a local resident, has filed the petition.

The petitioner stated that under the “impugned” ordinance, law and order, police and financial matters had been given to commissioners and their subordinates while ignoring public representatives. He maintained that it was tantamount to negate democracy at grassroots level and also a violation of Article 140 of the constitution.

He alleged that the impugned ordinance was introduced to get desired results in the forthcoming general elections.

He requested the court to declare the ordinance null and void.
