QUETTA: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is considering inviting Afghanistan to play in Quetta in the wake of improved law and order situation in Balochistan’s capital.
PCB Chairman Shahryar Khan said Afghanistan had shown consent to send their cricket team to Pakistan. “We are considering arranging matches here in order to provide locals an opportunity to watch international cricket,” he said.
The PCB chief, who was accompanied by Quetta Secretary General Noman Mashkoor and PCB Coordinator Abdul Qayyum here at Bugti Cricket Stadium, revealed the board’s plans to establish cricket academies in Quetta and Peshawar.
He also urged the Baloch youth to focus on education. “A cricketer must be educated as it is the need of the hour,” he remarked.
The chairman further added that Balochistan Governor Muhammad Khan Achakzai and Chief Minsiter Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri had been requested to construct new cricket stadiums in Quetta and other cities of the province.
