There was the
lowest coronavirus positivity rate on Friday after a total of three months at 3.58 percent, according to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC). The last time it stood at 3 percent was in February 2021.
A total of 83 people lost their lives to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours; 74 of whom were under treatment in hospitals while nine were out of the hospital in their respective quarantines or homes. Most of these deaths have been reported in the provinces of Sindh and Punjab.
52,589 tests were conducted across the state including 15,741 in Sindh, 21,908 in Punjab, 8,255 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), 4,319 in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), 1,655 in Balochistan, 354 in GB, and 627 in AJK.
From the total, 1893 were positive, according to a NCOC daily report. 3,431 people recovered from the disease during the last 24 hours.
Maximum ventilator occupation was identified in four major areas including Peshawar at 31 percent, Lahore at 31 percent, Bahawalpur at 36 percent and Multan at 62 percent. Oxygen bed usage was dominant in four major areas of Abbottabad at 35 percent, Bahawalpur at 33 percent, Karachi at 35 percent and Multan at 37 percent.
Around 430 ventilators were occupied elsewhere in the country while no COVID affected person was on ventilator in Balochistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit Baltistan (GB).
The total number of deaths from
COVID-19 in the country so far stands at 21,105, while the total number of cases is 928,588 including 19388 in AJK, 25476 in Balochishtan, 5623 in GB, 81540 in ICT, 133746 in KPK, 341390 in Punjab and 321,425 in Sindh.
Meanwhile, 856,005 people have recovered from the virus so far.
The country is reporting fewer cases than before amid the deadly third wave that has claimed the lives of millions. However, Sindh is still reporting a spike in cases.
A day earlier, Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Pechuho that said despite the efforts of the government, people are still hesitant to get themselves vaccinated. The health minister, addressing a press conference in Karachi, said Sindh would ease restrictions once people start getting themselves inoculated.
