LAHORE: Kashana Home former superintendent Afshan Lateef protested outside the IG’s office holding the prime minister’s portrait. It is not known when she held the protest, the footage, doing the rounds online, however, shows that when a police official, later identified as Security DSP Zahid, stopped her going inside, the former Kashana superintendent slapped him.
Reacting to the slap, the DSP pushed her. Before the situation went from bad to worse, the officers standing nearby intervened. During the bitter rhetoric, the woman kept cursing the policemen.
Afshan has been in the headlines when some time ago she accused the provincial minister of social welfare of forcibly marrying orphaned girls. After the inquiry, the woman had to lose her job. Since that day she has been protesting to no avail. The purpose of her protest can be clearly read in her tweet.
According to DSP Anarkali Thaqleen Shah, no request for action has been received from Afshan Latif and DSP Security so far.
