Sindh govt fails to resolve pressing issues of city

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah visited already cleaned roads and streets of the metropolitan, while Karachities suffer big challenges of heavy encroachments coupled with repeat street crimes, law and order as well as cleanliness issues, particularly degradation of drainage and sewerage, road communication and other infrastructures. Earlier, Chief Minister Sindh issued directives and a three-day deadline to local government minister Jam Khan Shoro and other officials, but to no avail. There are piles of dirt everywhere and and a pungent smell hangs in the air everywhere in Karachi. According to sources, the District Commissioner Central has cancelled 30,000 illegal leases for houses. They had constructed their houses at Gujjar Nullah and other locations and the DC Central administration have repeatedly given deadlines to residential houses to evacuate their homes. There are over 10,000 houses which will directly suffer during the operation at different locations of drains and bridges. According to Daily Times, there was an increase of 149 recorded instances of street crimes and robberies increased in 2015. More than 95 vehicles were stolen from different areas in the first six months during 2016, while 796 thefts occurred. There were 233 highway killings recorded during the recorded 6 month period.
