ISLAMABAD: Murder of Merit, posting of Ms Zeba Hayee a junior most officer as Director General Intelligence & Investigation Customs in the offing.

It has been learnt from reliable sources that Nisar Muhammad Khan, Chairman FBR is under tremendous pressure from power corridors to post a junior officer Ms Zeba Hayee, a BPS-20 officer, as Director General Intelligence & Investigation Customs. Ms Zeba is the sister of Kulsoom who has links with Shahbaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab, who is using pressure to post the most junior officer who is from 15th Common and has just completed her staff college.

The said post is most pivotal not only in terms of revenue generation but for anti smuggling and in the past this post has been held by very senior officers of BPS-22 of Customs Group such as Muhammad Riaz Khan, Lutfullah Virk, and by Generals of Pak Army such as General Usman Ali Khan and General Faheem.

Currently, it is being held by Muhammad Imtiaz who is going to retire within two months but Ms Zeba Hayee is pressurizing Chairman FBR to issue notification now and even she cannot wait for two months. Until now Nisar Muhammad Khan has taken a stand not to post her being the junior most officer of customs group as it will result in total break-down of chain of command on one hand and heart burning on one hand but utter murder of merit and professionalism on the other hand.

Currently, there are senior most and very competent officers who are eligible to be posted as Director General Intelligence & Investigation Customs.

It is hoped that Muhammad Nawaz Sharif who is famous for upholding merits and professionalism will take notice of expected posting of a junior most officer who claims to have links with Sharif family and will direct that the senior most officer has to be posted as DG Intelligence.
