Police ‘shelve’ case of five people murdered in Bani Gala

Author: By Mehar Ali Khan

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Police have shelved the murder cases of five persons including that of a police commando in the area of Bani Gala police.

All the high ups of the federal police including the IG Islamabad are keeping mum over the matter and family members of the commando constable Mehmood, are making rounds of all the respective offices to seek justice, but their all efforts have proved only an exercise in futility.

Two months have elapsed since the occurrence of this incident but all the senior police officers including the IG Islamabad, Tariq Masood Yasin, are not prepared to offer any comment in connection with the case. The police have also not included several persons in the investigation.

Well placed sources said Zahid, husband of the deceased Irum, is outside the country and he was threatening the police constable. However the police have neither investigated Zahid nor have they obtained his mobile phone data.

Investigation officer Sub Inspector Muhammad Shafiq, said Zahid lives outside the country therefore, he is not connected with this case. There is no use of including him in this case.

The IG Islamabad, Tariq Masood Yasin, had told one month to the legal heirs of the police commando constable that the inquiry report would be provided to them within two days but later he started dodging the family members of the deceased commando constable.

Neither the IG Police Islamabad is holding any meeting with the family members of the slain constable nor have any directives been issued to go ahead with the inquiry. The family members of the slain constable are making rounds of different offices, holding files in their hands, but their grievances are not being redressed anywhere.

The family members complained that whenever they contacted the police they were told that the inquiry was under way and whenever any clue was found they would then be informed. “We decided to move the court but the IG Islamabad and other officers mounted pressure on us saying please don’t resort to the court as it will bring a bad name to their department”.

It is pertinent to mention here that five persons were killed in the jurisdiction of Police Station Bani Gala on July 22, 2016 and it was said in the report that police constable Mehmood committed suicide after killing four persons. But the evidence runs contrary to the case and the police is all out to hush up the matter.
