Three soldiers wounded in Khyber attacks

KHYBER AGENCY: At least three soldiers were injured in separate incidents in different areas of Khyber Agency on Saturday.

In the first incident, unidentified armed men shot and injured a Khasadar officer in Lowarha Mena of Mulagori, a sub-tehsil of Jamrud, Khyber Agency. An administrative official said that the official, identified as Bezaar Khan, was performing his duty when the attackers opened fire on him and fled. Soon after the incident, the security officials rushed to the site and shifted the injured to a hospital. A massive search operation was also initiated in the area. Security officials tracked down the attackers hiding in the hilly area of Mulagori. During an exchange of fire, a Frontier Corps (FC) soldier, Iftikhar Bangash, received bullet injuries and was moved to a military health centre. The operation was underway till the filing of this report, while no arrest had been made.

Meanwhile, an army officer was wounded in an attack on a checkpost in Tirah Valley. Sources said that Lance Naek Tassawar Hussain was injured when unidentified militants opened firing on the forces’ checkpost in Rajgal, Koki Khel. He was shifted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Peshawar.
