NEW DELHI: Bollywood star Salman Khan has come out in support of Pakistan actors working in Bollywood, a day after India carried out surgical strikes across the Line of Control.

Speaking at a press conference, the Bollywood star said “that those who killed our soldiers in Uri were terrorists. Pakistani artistes are not terrorists”.

Salman Khan further justified his comments saying that all Pakistani artistes work in India only after getting government permits, so there should be no reason to not allow them to work here. “They work only after getting proper documents”.

Khan alongside emphasised on the need to maintain peaceful relations between the two countries.

Salman’s comments come soon after the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association passed a resolution banning Pakistan actors and technicians from working in India.

Several other Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Sajid Khan had come out in full praise on the Indian Army’s specialised operation yesterday. Recently, Pakistan actors like Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan and Mawra Hocane have been trying to craft their careers in Bollywood. Also, singers like Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Shafqat Amanat Ali have provided musical scores for films.

Mahira of ‘Humsafar’ fame is awaiting to make her dream debut across Shahrukh Khan in the film ‘Raees’. Fawad Khan had become a darling of audiences after tele serial ‘Humsafar’ and ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai’. He also worked with Sonam Kapoor in the film ‘Khoobsurat’.

It is, however, unlikely that Fawad will return to India for the premiere of his upcoming film ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’. He had discretely flown out of India soon after Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena had called for a ban on Pakistani artistes.

Meanwhile, a 19th soldier attacked in Uri succumbed to his injuries today.
