KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has ordered the area police to lodge first initial report-FIR in the case of two missing cousins and granted a time of one month to the home department Sindh to take steps forward in the recovery of missing persons, the court also summoned Director General Rangers (DGR) Sindh and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh on October 20 in another case of missing persons.

A Division bench headed by Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto conducted the hearing on more than 50 cases of missing persons’. On the constitutional petition filed by Gul Parri mother of Jalal Balooch, and Nasreen mother of Imran, who had been missing since August 10, the court directed petitioners to approach area police and ordered the station house officer (SHO) Memon Goth to lodge an FIR of illegal detention.

The SHO memon Goth appeared before the court and submitted that he neither had picked Jalal and Imran, nor they had remained in his custody. While the petitioner had stated that their sons were picked by law enforcement agencies personals who were in civil dress when raided their homes.

Muhammad Ali Shaikh, who gained fame for his links with Owais Tappi leader of the ruling party in sindh is missing since last year and his wife had moved to SHC for his release, the court expressed satisfaction over the proceedings of Sindh home department’s report and after hearing the views of additional home secretary put off the hearing till October 3.

The judge ordered ” additional home secretary Sindh submitted the copy of minutes of the meeting of provincial task force that held on September 28, the investigation officer (IO) Gadap-II Gadap Division Karachi has also submitted the progress report mentioned that the meetings of JIT and provincial Task Force were held on September 27, and 28 respectively wherein the matter of missing persons including Muhammad Ali Shaikh, was discussed and efforts are being made to trace him. Justice Naimat Pulphoto said that we would appreciate when missing persons shall be recovered. The court further ordered that official respondents are directed to put more efforts for the recovery of missing persons.

Abida Begam, wife of Muhammad Ali Shaikh had made federation of Pakistan, DG Rangers, capital city police officer (CCPO) Karachi, station house officer (SHO) police station Airport Karachi a party and submitted that her spouse was proceeding to the Airport when he arrived at Jinnah Terminal some personals of law enforcement agencies took him into custody and his whereabouts are yet unknown.

The court summoned DG Rangers and IG Sindh to submit their views in the alleged detention of Tajdar Haider till October 20. Hyder’s mother has filed a constitutional petition in which she had submitted that his son Hyder was taken into custody by law enforcers who raided their house and also tortured family members.
