‘Parwana Hu’— a quiet jam with a loud message!

“Parwana Hu” by Kashmir was the winning performance songin ‘Pepsi Battle of the Bands’ and it was one of those songs that ended up influencing audience the most.

The poetic lyrics are a perfect reflection of the harsh reality of our society, and combined with the rock beat of the music, it evokes a dynamic feeling.

Formed in 2012, the band played for various shows across the country prior to ‘Pepsi Battle of the Bands’. Their stage presence was one of the best among all bands, especially due to how all the members were enjoying themselves. The band consist of Bilal Ali, Vais Khan, Usman Siddiqui, Shane J. Anthoney, ZairZaki and Ali Raza.

The song has been heard before but appreciation from the fans is a lot greater this time, because the video of the song is very conceptual. Based on Plato’s theory of “Allegory of Cave”, which presents the case of humans as ignorant of everything that happens around them, thus living in a cave.

This is exactly the situation of our society in current times.

We ignore facts, we close our eyes to reality, and we remain uneducated of what the world is beyond our thoughts; thus we are all living in a cave. The fear of the unknown has tied our hands, and we don’t want to get out of this fear to see for ourselves the real truth.

Parwana Hun’s depiction of this theory in their video is simply amazing. It shows a group of people happily living in the cave, making the best of what they have, while in reality all they need to do is step outside to a far better world.

In the end of the video, we see one man who takes the courage, and finally steps outside, leaving behind the fallen apple that is a symbol of his fear. When he finally gets the courage to face the real world, he discovers that it was nothing but his own thoughts that had blinded him and made him feel like he had something to be afraid of.

The music of the song is uplifting and the beats are strong yet very alluring to the kind of atmosphere they have generated in their video. Delivering a strong message with the powerful yet soft vocals, Parwana Hun is a jam that hit many heartstrings.

The visually brilliant video of the song has proven as the cherry on top for the song, portraying the brilliance of Kashmir the Band. It’s hard to believe how extensively their music has progressed over the past years and Parwana Hun is a living example that Pakistani music industry is nowhere behind in making songs that can create magic.

Kashmir has proved everyone that their talent is fresh, out of this world, and their quality of work is unrivalled. The band is once again acclaiming a lot of praises for their song Parwana Hun and fans are calling the band as the Pakistani version of famous international band Guns and Roses. With such high critical acclaims, it looks like the band is set out to be the next big success story in music.

“Parwana Hu” is the follow up to their last single “Pari” and the band’s unique sound has been capturing hearts. We hope to hear more songs from this exceptional ensemble soon and can’t wait to see what future has in store for them.
