Sir: The firing between the Indian Border Security Forces and Pakistan Rangers is disturbing not only for the people of the region of Kashmir but also for people like me on the both sides who want peace between the two nations. Both India and Pakistan must understand that this kind of escalation will only add to their problems.

It is unfortunate to note that the current relationship between India and Pakistan has been disturbed a lot amid certain incidents in the recent past. Both the countries should always stick to the tools of diplomacy and conciliation as these powerful factors will go a long way in matters of healing the wounds in due course. The tit-for-tat attitude will never yield any results, and both the countries will need to keep aside their egos if they are serious to find a solution to the problems.

Some time ago I had come across the news that the business transactions between India and Pakistan had been severely affected due to the bitter relationship. I have been wondering why the unfortunate official apathy had come in the way of doing business, hence causing unnecessary loss to the people of both the countries. Having worked in the same sector in the past, I know how much it affects the people attached to this business.

Therefore, both India and Pakistan should fully understand the importance of peace, and both countries should make efforts to alleviate the tense situation through dialogue.
