The draft law to reform the Labor Code, a key promise of Emmanuel Macron, is presented by Cabinet on Wednesday, with the main philosophy of granting more flexibility to the company.

Possibility of derogating from the branch agreement, merger of the representative bodies of the staff, mandatory ceiling of damages for unfair dismissal … the reform covers several commitments of candidate Macron.

Other subjects are on the table, such as the termination of employment contract, the dismissal of the economy or the recourse to the construction contract, a device halfway between the CDI and the interim, according to a document published by Le Monde.

“We want to make a reform that brings more social and economic dialogue, which brings more freedom, more security,” summed up Labor Minister Muriel Pénicaud on Wednesday morning on RTL.

This reform goes further than the much-criticized labor law, which last year triggered the worst social crisis under a left-wing government, with several months of protests.
