Capital police accused of protecting shisha cafes

Islamabad Police has failed to take action against shisha cafes.

IGP Amir Zulfiqar and other senior officers of Islamabad Police allegedly attended a lavish iftaar party arranged by family members of culprits nominated in an FIR registered in Police Station Kohsar.

The accused had manhandled a journalist while he was covering shisha cafes.

A local court had earlier cancelled the bails of accused Hisaan Khalil Noon and Saad Habib Kayani and ordered the police to arrest them. However, their family members arranged a reception for the police officials. Later on, Basim Kayani was also nominated in the FIR. However, he is still at large.

The Islamabad Crime and Court Reporters’ Association has condemned the behaviour of the Islamabad Police and decided to boycott all official ceremonies.
