ISLAMABAD: Two senior federal ministers exchanged harsh words and threatened each other in Parliament House while other ministers present on the occasion seemed to enjoy this and did not interfere.
On Thursday during prayer break, some ministers were sitting in the lobby adjacent to the National Assembly Hall. During small talk, defense minister Khawaja Asif told federal religious minister Sardar Yousaf that he had sent to him a close friend for work in the Religious Ministry but Sardar Yousaf did not oblige him and sent him back. Sardar Yousaf said that the work was not easy and the man was not up to the job.
Khawaja Asif became angry and said no one had ever snubbed him before, and that he would not tolerate such behavior. Sardar Yousaf responded by calling Khawaja Asif’s request illegal. The pair exchanged unparliamentary words and threatened each other, while fellow ministers looked on. Sources said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had been informed of the incident and he warned both of them.
