A happy consumer

Sir: It is unfortunate that last year, many Karachiites ate their first Sehri without the comfort of electricity. Instead of being able to focus on praying and asking for forgiveness we have had to bear the heat and load shed.

This year though, I am pleasantly surprised because we have faced steady electricity supply as we entered summer, and then as we came into the first week of Ramadan. Now the first Friday of Ramadan has passed without any problems.

When new cables were being laid in my area, I was skeptical. Like most, I was one of the first to say that this was an attempt by the power company to extort money and that there would be no improvement in electricity supply. I even said that they were merely replacing more expensive cables with cheaper ones to pocket the savings. I would talk about this with anyone I got the chance to and spread this misinformation.

The situation of power supply has improved tremendously since the new cables were laid. Our area transformers were changed I think also, or at least repaired. With the removal of kundas I think we are in a lower loss area now. I think that is the term KE uses. And our load-shed has greatly reduced.
