Indian troops martyred at least two Kashmiri youth in the occupied valley on Sunday, the Kashmir Media Service (KMS) reported.
The men were martyred during a cordon and search operation in Satipora area of Shopian district. The operation was carried out by a joint team of the occupying force’s 34 Rashtriya Rifles of the Special Operations Group and the Central Reserve Police Force.
The martyred youth have been identified as Basharat Ahmad and Tariq Ahmad. The KMS quoted local media as saying that Tariq was a former Special Police Officer who left service in April 2018.
Meanwhile, the authorities suspended the Internet services in the southern district of the disputed territory.
Data compiled by the KMS revealed that at least 13 youth were martyred by the Indian troops in April alone. As many as 132 people were injured and 182 arrested, including civilians, Hurriyat leaders and activists. The Indian forces also destroyed 20 residential structures in January, while at least six women were sexually assaulted.
According to the KMS, a total of 873 Kashmiris have been killed and over 26,215 injured and 10,452 arrested since July 2016. Data from January, 1989, to January, 2019 shows a whopping 95,283 killings and 145,597 arrests.
