Punjab CM tasks LDA with immediate road maintenance

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, on Monday, approved LDA City Phase-I project and announced the completion of plotting in eight months.

He was presiding over the governing body meeting of Lahore Ring Road Authority.

The chief minister directed to fully implement the recruitment quota of special persons and digitalise the file system.

Three bus terminals were also said to be established through public-private partnership in the provincial metropolis.

CM Buzdar also directed to constitute a committee to hire a consultant for the Lahore division’s Master Plan-2040.

Addressing the meeting, the chief minister noted LDA should complete the repair and maintenance of roads under its jurisdiction on a priority basis.

The task of devising rules and regulations for high-rise buildings in the city should also be completed soon, he maintained.

Punjab CM was told that a consultative committee would formulate policies for planning high-rise buildings.

CM Buzdar calls for one million trees planted round Ring Road

The meeting also deliberated upon a proposal to exclude other districts from the jurisdiction of LDA.

The chief minister directed that special attention be paid to the beautification of entry and exit points of the city while traffic-jam points should be identified.

He asked for necessary steps for an uninterrupted flow of traffic at entry points.

Practical measures should be adopted instead of paperwork, he added.

Any delay in public welfare projects was said to not be tolerated. He also called for immediate installation of road signs at various roads as they were necessary to guide citizens.

CM Buzdar was briefed on steps taken to uplift the business centres of the city and widen roads to ease access to market places.

The meeting was further told that trained fire-fighters would be deputed in markets while an awareness campaign was also being launched about the cleanliness and beautification of market places.

Provincial Housing Minister Mian Mahmood ur Rasheed; Planning and Development Chairman; LDA Vice Chairman Sheikh Muhammad Imran; LDA DG; Local Government Secretary; Lahore Commissioner; member Punjab Assembly Umer Aftab; Muhammad Atif; Sadia Sohail; Housing Secretary and other members of the governing body of LDA were also present on this occasion.

In a similar development, Sardar Buzdar inaugurated the Lahore Ring Road Authority Office Complex, on Monday.

He inspected various sections of the complex and also planted a sapling. He also inspected the intelligence traffic system. Lahore Commissioner, who is also the chairperson of Lahore Ring Road Authority, told CM Buzdar that the 23 kilometres-long Lahore Ring Road Southern Loop-I and II were completed in a period of twelve months through a public-private partnership.

The CM accorded principle approval to an eight kilometres-long southern loop-III project from Adda Plot to Multan Road.

With a cost of around 10 billion rupees, this project would be completed through a public-private partnership.

The chief minister directed to complete this project in one year while calling for one million trees round the Ring Road.

The control room of Lahore Ring Road Authority would be linked to the safe city project. Provincial ministers Mian Mahmood ur Rasheed, Asif Nakai, Hashim Dogar, MPA, Malik Asad Assistant Commissioners, Information Secretary, Services Secretary, Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) and others were also present on the occasion.
