Sharif lifts Sindh Amateur Golf Championship title

The 19th Sindh Amateur Golf Championship 2019 came to a conclusion after three rounds of trials and tests for the participating champions at the par 72, Karachi Golf Club Golf Course here Sunday. The star of this title bearing event turned out to be Mohammad Sharif who played steady golf in the final round and managed to emerge as the Sindh amateur golf champion for the year 2019, earning a position of respect and merit in the golf arena of Pakistan. Sharif captured the title with three round scores of gross 76 on the first day, gross 69 on the second day and a gross 74 in the final round. This gave him an aggregate score of 219, three over par. And though he and Saim Shazli had similar scores, the ultimate winner was Sharif, as according to rules of the championship, he had a better score over the last two rounds (36 holes). Others who attained positions in the gross section were Sajid Khan and Zubair Hussain. Sajid was the runner-up with a three days aggregate gross score of 227 and Zubair won the third prize with a score of 227.

The best performer in net category turned out to be Saim. Though he missed winning the title by the barest of margins and was distraught, a consolation achievement for him was the first net prize. His net score for the three days was net 213. The runner-up net was Adnan Javed Lodhi with a score of net 215. The senior category top one turned out to be Azahar Iqbal with three round scores of 75, 78 and 81 and aggregate of gross 234. The runner-up of seniors section was Sohail Karim Rana. He lost to the winner by a margin of one stroke. And the third position winner was Mansoor Akram. Mansoor and Sohail had similar scores, but in accordance with the rules Sohail was placed second as he had better scores over the last two rounds. A hole in one was done by Muhammad Qasin on hole number 8. For this he won a cash prize of Rs 50,000. The women’s champion was Aania Farooq. Her gross score for two rounds was 152. The second gross winner was Humera Khalid. The score achieved was 169. The first net was won by Daniya Syed and Mrs Tanveer Maqsood came second. At the conclusion of the championship, Sohail Shams, CEO of United Marine Agencies, awarded prizes to the winners.
