Nawaz may be shifted to hospital today

Author: Daily Times Monitor

The Punjab government Thursday issued a notification to transfer former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from prison to Jinnah Hospital for treatment. The notification stated that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has been given permission to make the transfer upon the advice of Services Hospital and the special medical board. Inspector General of Prisons Mirza Shahif Baig told a private TV channel that Nawaz Sharif will be shifted to the hospital on Friday (today). The government will, however, decide on the timing, he added. A special medical board constituted to review medical reports of Nawaz Sharif had said that the former prime minister was suffering from chest pain. It said Nawaz was facing cardiac issues and that his thallium tests had confirmed that he was suffering from angina. It said the former prime minister needed a cardiologist all the time. Nawaz is serving seven-year imprisonment at Kot Lakhpat jail in the Al-Azizia corruption case.
