Chairpersons of five National Assembly committees elected

The National Assembly standing committees on interior, foreign affairs, Information, broadcasting, national history and literary heritage, inter-provincial coordination and national health services, regulations and coordination Wednesday elected their chairpersons.

Meetings for the election of the chairpersons for the five committees were held separately at Parliament House. MNA Raja Khurram Shahzad Nawaz was elected chairman of the Standing Committee on Interior; MNA Malik Ehsan Ullah Tiwana of Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and MNA Javed Latif was elected chairman of the Standing Committee on Information, Broadcasting, National History and Literary Heritage. MNA Agha Hassan Baloch was elected chairman of the Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination and MNA Khalid Hussain Magsi was elected as chairman of the Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination.

The separate meetings commenced with recitation from the Holy Quran. The Special Secretary, National Assembly Secretariat, welcomed the Members and briefed them about the procedure for election of Chairman.

In the first meeing, Sardar Talib Hussain Nakai, Member of the Standing Committee on Interior, proposed the name of Raja Khurram Shahzad Nawaz, MNA, as Chairman of Standing Committee on Interior, which was seconded by Abdul Qadir Patel MNA/Member. Accordingly Raja Khurram Shahzad Nawaz, MNA, was unanimously elected as Chairman of the Standing Committee on Interior.

Members/MNAs, Sher Akbar Khan, Raja Khurram Shahzad Nawaz, Syed Iftikharul Hassan, Mehar Ghulam Muhammad Lali, RazaNasrullah, Rahat Amanullah Bhatti, Sardar Talib Hussain Nakai, Nadeem Abbas, Abdul Qadir Patel, Ms. Nafeesa Inayatullah Khan Khattak, Ms. Maryam Aurangzaib and Malik Muhammad Amir Dogar attended the meeting

In the second meeting for the election of the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani proposed the name of Malik Muhammad Ehsanullah Tiwana, MNA which was seconded by Nauman Islam Shaikh, MNA and Mohsin Dawar, MNA. Being the only candidate for Chairmanship, Special Secretary National Assembly Secretariat announced that Malik Muhammad Ehsan Ullah Tiwana, MNA was unanimously elected as Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs. All the members and Minister for Foreign Affairs who specially attended the first Meeting of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs congratulated and expressed their full confidence and cooperation to the newly elected Chairman. The Chairman also reciprocated them for giving their confidence and support.

Members/MNAs Arbab Aamir Ayub, Malik Muhammad Ehsanullah Tiwana, Mehar Ghulam Muhammad Lali, Muhammad Ameer Sultan, Syed Fakhar Imam, Makhdoom Zain Hussain Qureshi, Ms. Munaza Hassan, Ms. Maleeka Ali Bokhari, Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, Ali Nawaz Shah, Ms. Mehnaz Akber Aziz, Noor ul Hassan Tanvir, Ms. Zahra Wadood Fatemi, Nauman Islam Shaikh, Abdul Shakoor, Mohsin Dawar, Malik Aamir Doghar, Chief Whip and Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs attended the meeting.

In third separate meeting, Nafisa Shah, MNA, Member of the Standing Committee on Information, Broadcasting, National History and Literary Heritage proposed the name of Javed Latif MNA, as Chairman of Standing Committee on Information, Broadcasting, National History and Literary Heritage, which was seconded by Ms. Naz Baloch and Ms. Syma Nadeem MNAs/Members. Accordingly Javed Latif MNA was unanimously elected as Chairman of the Standing Committee on Information, Broadcasting, National History and Literary Heritage

Members/MNAs Tahir Iqbal, Muhammad Akram, Muhammad Alamgir Khan, Aftab Jehangir, Ms. Javairia Zafar Aheer, Ms. Syma Nadeem, Ms. Kunwal Shauzab, Ch. Muhammad Shahbaz Babar, Javed Latif, Nadeem Abbas, Ms. Maryam Aurangzaib, Ms. Nafisa Shah, Zulfiqar Ali Behan, Ms. Naz Baloch and Malik Muhammad Amir Dogar (Chief Whip) attended the meeting.

In fourth meeting, Mohammad Aslam Bhootani, MNA/Member proposed the name of Agha Hassan Baloch, MNA as Chairman of the Committee while Ms. Shahida Rehmani, MNA seconded his candidature. Accordingly, Agha Hassan Baloch, MNA was unanimously elected as Chairman of the Standing Committee on Inter Provincial Coordination.

Other members of the committee were Mehboob Shah, Gul Dad Khan, Gul Zafar Khan, Ms. Rubina Jamil, Ms. Munawara Bibi Baloch, Muhammad Hashim, Mohammad Aslam Bhootani, Rana Mubashir Iqbal, Muhammad Afzal Khokhar, Rasheed Ahmad Khan, Zulfiqar Ali Behan, Ms. Shahida Rehmani, Ms. Nasiba Chana and Muhammad Anwar.

In the last and fifth meeting Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti, MNA/Member proposed the name of Khalid Hussain Magsi, MNA as Chairman of the Committee while Mukhtar Ahmad Malik, MNA seconded his candidature. Accordingly, Khalid Hussain Magsi, MNA was unanimously elected as Chairman of the Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination.

The meeting was attended by MNAs Nasir Khan Musazai, Shaukat Ali, Raja Khurram Shahzad Nawaz, Dr. Muhammad Afzal Khan Dhandla, Dr, Nausheen Hamid, Ms. Fozia Behram, Ms. Noureen Farooq Khan, Nisar Ahmad Cheema, Mukhtar Ahmad Malik, Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti, Ms. Samina Matloob, Dr. Darshan, Mahesh Kumar Malani, James Iqbal besides the senior officers of the National Assembly Secretariat.
