Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Pir Noor-ul-Haq Qadri Monday said that Pakistan would become Madina-like state under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Addressing a Qaumi Ulema-o-Mushaikh Convention here at Jamia Hizb-ul-Ahnaf, he said that love and respect for Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) was part of one’s faith and without this no one could claim to be a true Muslim.

He said that Pakistan came into being with the efforts of elders of Ulema and Mushaikh and now, they would have to play their role in its protection. He said that the current religious issue would be resolved with courage and sensibility.

He said that tone of a common man was different from the responsible government officials.

The minister said that the role of Prime Minister Imran Khan in case of blasphemous caricatures in Holland was prominent as later had requested the speaker to stop the routine business of the assembly, and a resolution for protecting the honour of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) might be presented in the House.

“The government talked to foreign ministers of Islamic countries on the sensitive issue and suggested for calling a meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on the issue,” he added. He said that the contest on the blasphemous caricatures had been cancelled due to efforts and strategy of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

“The PTI and every person of the government would protect Article 295-C of the Constitution,” Qadri added. He said that review appeals should be brought in sensitive cases to the courts instead of staging protest demonstrations.

The minister said that speech of Imran Khan after protests against Asia Bibi acquittal was part of the state policy, whereas dialogue was policy of the government.

He said that the government would prefer dialogue to confrontation and it would always opt for a peaceful solution to the issues. He said the government would not allow conspirators to damage the country and the religion.

President Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Noorani) Abu Al-Khair Sahibzada Muhammad Zubair Alwari presided over the convention. Former state minister Pir Muhammad Aminul Hasnaat, Allama Hamid Saeed Kazmi, Pir Syed Munawwar Hussain Jamaati, Sahibzada Hamid Raza Sialkoti, Khalid Sultan Bahoo and others spoke on the occasion.
