ISLAMABAD: Polo season in Pakistan kicked off with the Argentina Republic Polo Cup 2018 in Islamabad this week, featuring two of Hashoo Group’s teams. The two teams ‘Hashoo’ and ‘Hashoo 4’ were sponsored by the Group who owns Pearl-Continental and Marriott Hotels across Pakistan. This is the second time the group sponsored the Argentina Republic’s Polo Cup. Attended by those fond of the ‘sport of the kings’ the final was held yesterday with Hashoo Group’s Team winning the match against Shahtaj 4 Horsemen by half a goal with a 6.5:6 score. The two Hashoo teams along with teams ‘Kalabagh’ and ‘President Body Guard’ played their matches this past week at the Islamabad Club Polo Grounds set against a view of the majestic Margallah Hills.

The two Hashoo Group teams comprised of players Muhammad Aun Rizvi (Handicap-1), Muhammad Turab Rizvi (1 Goal Handicap), Edward (3 Goal Handicap, UK), Miguel Angel Diaz (4 Goal Handicap, Argentina), Adil Waheed (1 Goal Handicap), Abbas Khan Niazi (2 Goal Handicap), Hamza (1 Goal Handicap) and Raja Hasnat Mujeeb (2 Goal Handicap). The youngest players in the tournament, Muhammad Aun Rizvi and Muhammad Turab Rizvi, proved their polo skills while playing with seasoned and higher goal handicap players. “We are proud to showcase young Pakistani polo players playing alongside renowned international players.
