India’s ceasefire violations potential threat to the regional stability: army

Author: Staff Report

RAWALPINDI: The military on Wednesday viewed continued unprovoked ceasefire violations by India along the Line of Control (LoC) and the Working Boundary (WB) as a potential threat to regional stability.

The 199th Corps Commanders’ Conference was held at the General Headquarters, which reviewed the security environment and challenges, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Asif Ghafoor said in a tweet.

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa chaired the conference. The forum also condemned recent terrorist incidents in Afghanistan and expressed solidarity with the Afghan people and their security forces in defeating terrorism.

The forum expressed satisfaction over the progress made in counter-terrorism and intelligence-based operations. The COAS said that these operations should continue until the achievement of desired results.

It may be mentioned here that COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa during his visit to the Lahore Garrison last Friday took the troops on board about the prevailing security environment and highlighted the challenges for the army.

He said that the Pakistan Army and Pakistan Rangers had played an important role for reduction in the internal security threats as well as effective response along the WB. The COAS had said that the Pakistan Army and Rangers were fully prepared for giving a befitting response to any misadventure from across the border. He said that through provocations along the LoC and the WB, India was trying to divert the world’s attention from its atrocities committed against innocent people in Held Kashmir.
