Police arrest 27 criminals, recover cash, jewellery, cell phones, laptops, vehicles

CIA police arrested 27 criminals belonging to different gangs and recovered cash, gold ornaments, 28 cell phones, laptops, 16 motorcycles and illegal weapons worth Rs 11.7 million from their possession.

This was informed by CIA Superintendent Police Abdul Rahim Sherazi during a press conference at his office on Saturday.

He added that some robbers had shot and wounded more than 15 people during robbery or dacoity across the city.

He further informed that CIA teams of different city divisions recovered motorcycles, cell phones, cash as well as illegal weapons from their possession. The criminals have confessed to several cases of dacoity, street crimes, shop robberies, car and motorcycle snatching and stealing in different areas of the city.

He said that Senior Superintendent of Police Investigation Awais Ahmed Malik constituted different special teams under the supervision of senior police officers comprising inspectors, sub-inspectors and other police officials. The police teams worked hard day and night and collected particulars of these criminal gangs and arrested their members.

The arrested criminals were identified as Suraiyya, Farzana Kasur, Rukhsana, Iqra, Safiya, Muqqadas, Basit, Ali Raza, Abdul Rahman, Arshad Ali, Mazoor Ellahi, Amin Butt, Amir Hussain, Ali Ahmed, Danish, Naeem, Wasim Abbas, Ashmar Ali Anthony, Yasir Ali, Bilal, Afzal, Riaz, Usman, Furqan and Amir.

SP CIA said the cases were registered against them in various police stations of the city. During interrogation, they had confessed to their crime, he further said. The police have recovered illegal weapons, stolen vehicles, jewellery and other valuables from their possession. He also said that police returned cash, gold ornaments, vehicles and other valuables to their actual owners.

Separately, Dolphin Force arrested 23 criminals on the road during snap checking and recovered valuables as well as illegal weapons from them.

SP Mujahid, Dolphin Force Nadeem Khokhar said that their attendance through biometric system was also ensured, besides, the monitoring of patrolling by Dolphin Force of each beat along with the snap checking report on daily basis was prepared, everyday.

The SP said police arrested several criminals involved in different crimes, selling drugs, snatching and other activities. The arrested criminals were identified as Aslam, Arsalan, Ilyas, Mohsin, Adeel, Mukarram, Aqeel, Asif, Nadeem and others. He said that the criminals committed crimes in Johar Town, Shahdara, Kahna, Misri Shah, Ravi Road, Township and Sabzazar. He said that police patrolling and security has beefed up across the city during Muharam.

It is pertinent to mention that under the patrolling plan of Dolphin Force, Lahore has been divided into 138 beats which included City, Civil Lines, Model Town, Cantonment, Iqbal Town and Sadar.
