ISLAMABAD: A special court announced on Monday that from October 9 the court will hear a high treason case against former president Pervez Musharraf on a daily basis.
A two-judge bench headed by the Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Yawar Ali and comprising Sindh High Court’s (SHC) Justice Nazar Akbar heard the Musharaf’s high treason case.
“This is the last time we are adjourning the inconclusive case,” Justice Yawar remarked. “As it is necessary to take the case to a logical conclusion,” he added.
Justice Yawar then announced that from October 9, the case will be heard on daily basis. He also apprised that senior prosecutor Naseeruddin Khan Nayyar will present arguments as the court’s legal adviser.
All statements have been recorded in the case, he observed.
Justice Yawar further questioned the government representatives, who were attending the ssion, that what kind of steps have been taken for Musharraf’s appearance before the court.
To this, the Ministry of Interior representative responded, “A request was forwarded for Musharraf’s arrest through Interpol.”

Justice Yawar then ordered the Minister to submit a written statement on regarding Musharraf’s presence before the court. The session was then adjourned till October 9.
The former army chief was indicted in the case in March 2014 after which he appeared before the court and rejected all charges.
On March 18, 2016, the former president left Pakistan for Dubai for medical treatment after his name was removed from the Exit Control List (ECL) on the Supreme Court’s orders.

A few months later, the special court had declared him a proclaimed offender. Due to his absence from the sessions, the court had ordered to confiscate his property.
Later, Supreme Court ordered to cancel Musharraf’s passport and identity card since he failed to return to the country despite the last chance.
