World condemns Lahore terror attack

ISLAMABAD: The United Nations Country Team in Pakistan is shocked at the brutality of the terror attack on peaceful protestors and police in Lahore.

The UN family in Pakistan shares the grief of all Pakistanis at this loss and expresses condolences to the families and colleagues of all the affected, said a press release on Tuesday.

“We condemn the violence and stand in solidarity with fellow Pakistanis in this time of grief,” said Neil Buhne, Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator, United Nations Pakistan.

Separately, the Chinese government strongly condemned the deadly suicide bombing in Lahore.

“We condemn this terrorist attack and extend deep condolences to the victims,” a statement from the embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Pakistan said. “We honor the law-enforcement officials who sacrificed their lives in the explosion,” the statement said.

“We express sincere sympathy to the families of the victims and hope the wounded recover at an early date,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani telephoned Nawaz Sharif to offer condolences over the loss of life in the Lahore attack.

Separately, Turkish Foreign Ministry condemned the terror attack.

The ministry said, “We reaffirm that Turkey will continue to be in solidarity with brotherly Pakistan in its fight against terrorism.”
