Tarbela Dam has filled to its maximum storage level!

LAHORE: Tarbela Dam has filled to its maximum storage level of 1,550 feet above the main sea level whereas 6.047 million acre feet (MAF) water has been stored in the reservoir.

Further the officials from the Water & Power Development Authority (WAPDA) informed about the status of the river inflows and outflows at Tarbela Dam, Mangla Dam and Chashma Barrage along with the reservoirs levels and the barrages.

At present, the Indus at Tarbela has the inflows 224,800 cusecs and outflows 181,100 cusecs, Kabul at Nowshera has inflows 45,800 cusecs and outflows 45,800 cusecs, Jhelum at Mangla has inflows 29,300 cusecs and outflows 10,000 cusecs whereas Chenab at Marala has inflows 74,300 cusecs and outflows 42,600 cusecs.

Officials giving information about the barrages said that presently Jinnah Barrage has inflows of 213,700 cusecs and outflows of 205,700 cusecs, Chashma Barrage has the inflows of 218,400 cusecs and outflows of 190,000 cusecs, Taunsa Barrage has inflow of 186,400 cusecs and outflow of 165,800 cusecs, Panjnad Barrage has inflow of 48,800 cusecs and outflow of 34,200 cusecs, Guddu Barrage has inflow of 256,000 cusecs and outflow of 227,300 cusecs, Sukkur Barrage has inflow of 205,400 cusecs and outflows of 149,800 cusecs whereas Kotri Barrage has the inflow of 52,300 cusecs and outflow of 10,500.

According to the officials of WAPDA, the reservoir level and storage at Tarbela has the minimum operating level of 1,386 feet with present level of 1,550, maximum conservation level of 1,550 feet and the live storage 6.047 million acre feet, as per the stats gathered on Monday.

Mangla Dam has a minimum operating level of 1,050 feet whereas the present level is 1,170.75 feet, maximum conservation level of 1,242 feet and live storage today 2.701 MAF. On the other hand the Chashma has the minimum operating level of 638.15 feet with the present level 648.00 feet, maximum conservation level 649 feet and live storage today 0.227 MAF.

The inflows and outflows of River Indus at Tarbela and Chashma, River Kabul at Nowshera and River Jhelum at Mangla have been reflected as mean flows of 24 hours, whereas the other flows were gauged at 6am on Monday.
