ACE initiates probe into 102 illegal buildings around Mazar-e-Quaid

KARACHI: The Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE), Karachi on available details from Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), has initiated the probe into 102 illegal buildings, which have been constructed around Mazar of Quaid.

Zaheer Abbasi Assistant Director ACE and Inspector Imtiaz Channa (south) zone have been appointed as investigation officials by ACE Director Karachi in this matter.

There are construction restrictions that no building or any cemented structure is allowed within a radius of one kilometers of Mazar.

According to building laws laid down for construction in surroundings of Mazar, the permitted heights are 36 feet in front row of podium, 54 feet in second and no construction is allowed above 64 feet around the Mazar.

According to ACE, it is revealed in the building records Jamshed Town, which have been taken into custody that many buildings and flat sites have been constructed around the Mazar. These building are being used for residential and commercial purposes .

Baqaullah Anar, Director General SBCA, as focal person of SBCA, Farhan Qaiser, Deputy Director and Asif Hussain Shaikh and Abdul Rauf Shaikh Assistant Directors of SBCA are to assist ACE during probe process in this regard.

Inspector Imtiaz Channa who had conducted the raid at SBCA, Jamshed Town office had the approval of Ghulam Qadir Chairman ACE and Yazdani, Director Sindh, under the supervision of judicial magistrate East Waseem Basheer Khoso.

During the raid proceeding inspector Channa had collected 181 original record files of the alleged plots/buildings which were illegally constructed without the approval of building plans with the connivance of officers/officials ofSBCA Jamshed Town.

Some record files of alleged plots/buildings could not be collected due to non availability at record rooms.

Two or three storey buildings have been built illegally around the Mazar in violation of rules. The buildings have been constructed on plots 356 and 359, Cosmopolitan Cooperative Housing Society, on plot 559 Muslimabad Cooperative Housing Society, on plots 83 and 87, 174, old plots numbers 1051, 1054, 2055, 2082, 2088, 3017, 3047, 3067/2 and on plot 3089 in Hyderabad Colony. On plot 311-A, in same vicinity flats are being built which is violation.

On plot 356, (old no G-7) Jamshed Quarter are units or flats constructed illegally and without approval plan and on plot 568, (old no 63/8) Jamshed Quarter, units or flats are constructed without approval plan.

It is interesting that with the illegal support of concerned officials of Jamshed Town, several cases are pending for regularization, which is by no mean legal or allowed under building rules.
