PPP expels two office bearers for violating party’s discipline

LARKANA: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Sindh Chief Nisar Ahmed Khuhro on Wednesday fired two office bearers of the party from Rohri and Saleh Pat.

According to sources, Khuhro’s spokesman Shakeel Memon issued a press statement saying that Rohri PPP general secretary Irshad Lashari and Saleh Pat PPP general secretary Altaf Shah were ousted by Khuhro for violating rules and discipline of the party concerning election campaign in their respective regions and supporting rival candidates.

Irrigation Department releases water discharging schedule for rice sowing

The Irrigation department executive engineer of Warah division said on Wednesday that due to an acute irrigation water shortage in Indus River, water would be discharged in Warah canal turn-by-turn till August 3.

Reportedly, the department has prepared a water-discharge schedule, and according to it water would be discharged to Salar, Tarai and Gaheja regulators of Madeji subdivision from July 18 to July 20 for constant 48 hours, while Hakim Shah, Shahpur, Khairo Dero regulators of Miro Khan subdivision would receive water starting from July 20 till July 22.

Likewise, water would be released to Gul Tale Garhi and Dost Ali regulators of Warah subdivision from starting from July 22 till July 25.

Furthermore, the regulators of Madeji subdivision would again get water supply from July 25 till July 27, Miro Khan subdivision would receive water from July 27 till July 29 and Warah subdivision would get water from July 29 till August 1.

This year, Rice sowing has been delayed due to severe water scarcity in Sindh, and it is expected to reveal devastating economic consequences for the growers, and state economy respectively.
