ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has ordered all government institutions to help the interior ministry in bringing former finance minister, Ishaq Dar, back to the country.

Cheif Justice Saqib Nisar, while heading the three judge bench of the apex court, presided over the hearing of the suo moto case relating to former Pakistan Television (PTV) chairman Attaullah Haq Qasmi  appointment as managing director (MD), his monthly salary of 1.5 million rupees ,as well as the additional perks that the job had to offer which amount to around 270 million rupees.

As Dar failed to appear once more, despite being given a chance to be present in person within three days for the last hearing on Monday, the chief justice ordered the interior secretary to deploy whatever means necessary to bring Dar back to the country. He also ordered all relevant authorities to assist him, highlighting that if any relevant authority chooses not to help the interior ministry, the SC will launch an inquiry against that particular authority.

Owing to Dar’s absence, the case hearing has been adjourned till July 14, and the interior ministry has been ordered to bring Dar back to the country.
