RAWALPINDI: The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing arrested a medical student alleged of harassing and obtaining money from girls he befriended on Facebook.

FIA Deputy Director Syed Shahid Hassan on Thursday told media that a second year medical student of Nowshera Medical College was arrested in response to a complaint made by a girl.

Shahid said that the girl complained against the boy accusing him of harassment and blackmailing via Facebook.

FIA Deputy further said that the suspect had made various fake accounts on Facebook to harass and blackmail girls online.

He said that many people befriend girls on Facebook and then ask for their pictures. Later, he added, the girls are blackmailed.

Syed Shahid further highlighted such cases by providing related examples that many times girls have taken their lives due to unbearable situations in which they find themselves helpless and become frightened of their families.
