NAB hands over Rs 11.41m cheque to UoP, FDMA

PESHAWAR: The Director General NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shahzad Saleem handed-over a cheque amounting to Rs11.41 million to University of Peshawar (UoP) and FDMA in a graceful ceremony held at NAB (KP) today.

As per details, NAB (KP) had initiated an inquiry against the accused Imdadullah BPS – 22) Director / incharge of Institute of Chemical Sciences, University of Peshawar. The accused persons deliberately maintained the cash book entries in a manner for embezzlement of amount.

Cheques of huge amount were not entered into cash books at all, interestingly these cheques were issued in their own names, Arif Ismail and Muhammad Ali official of the Deptt and the same amounts were then en-cashed themselves.

This amount was drawn in various heads of accounts including HEC, Indigenous Scholarships, Private Funds and MORA Scholarships etc resultantly debarred the deserving students. The amount recovered was also handed over as cheque of Rs 3.88 Million to Mr. Naveed Sardar, Deputy Treasurer University of Peshawar today by the Director General NAB (KP).

In another case, the accused Inayat Ullah, Agency Coordinator FATA Disaster Management Authority KP (FDMA) with the connivance of local elders of Bajur Agency, bank officials and other FDMA officials included fake/ineligible persons in the payment lists. He paved the way for embezzling millions of rupees meant for the poor and war affected people of Bajur Agency.

The amount recovered was also handed over as cheque of Rs 7.53 million to Muhammad Riaz, Director (Admn), FDMA today by the Director General NAB (KP).

The DG NAB (KP) assured the general public that NAB (KP) will continue its efforts without any fear or favor and ensure the return of looted money from the culprits to its rightful heirs, and advised general public to be aware of such fraudulent elements and schemes.
