Karachi: Provincial Minister for Education and Literacy Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar, while taking notice of disconnection of the supply of electricity to 224 schools, has directed secretaries Schools and colleges to look into the matter and resolve the issue at earliest in order to provide a peaceful environment to the students.
“Sindh High Court has given remarks that the electricity to the educational institutions should not be disconnected. Despite these remarks of Honourable Court, K-Electric is disconnecting supply of electricity to the schools and colleges, that is a sheer violation of the human rights”, Dahar noted.
He said that it was a very common complaint against K-Electric of sending excessive billing to the educational institutions and this complaint should be addressed by the management of K-Electric at earliest.
Meanwhile the Minister also took notice of delay in supply of free text books to schools and directed chairman Sindh Text Book Board to ensure timely supply of free text books to the schools so that the students might start their new academic session on time.
