Military courts

Author: Daily Times

Sir: I would like to know, why are the politicians having apprehensions about military courts, when they are not able to take any action to reform the prevailing outdated criminal justice system?

Why in almost four years’ tenure, the PML-N government did not restructure the anti-terrorism courts to deal with terrorists’ cases and deliver quick justice as it was agreed in the National Action Plan. Is it not sheer ineptness and incompetence of the law enforcement agencies and concerned ministries?

Why did the civilian government not building the capacity of civilian institutions that can handle cases of terrorism? Why are the civilians burdening the military with these jobs, which is the responsibility of civilian institutions and government? Why has the prime minister not appointed foreign minister? He has never told the people the reason and justifications for not appointing competent foreign and defence ministers. When will the politicians know their responsibilities?
