HYDERABAD: The University of Sindh (SU) has categorically denied consideration of any proposal to establish of ‘Selani’ food outlet to provide free or discounted meals to SU students, especially boarders.

A spokesman for the university said that Vice Chancellor Dr Burfat had taken exception to any such development at almost all public forums, including print, electronic and social media channels.

The spokesperson said that furor on the given account was actually an expression of unjustified resentment among a handful of people, who did not want Dr Burfat to succeed and SU to prosper.

The spokesman asserted that SU was in a stable financial shape and was a satisfied recipient of both federal and provincial government grants.

“Hence, there were no projects like Selani under any active consideration,” he said setting aside all such baseless propaganda.

Meanwhile, the Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT), US, Jamshoro, organised an exhibition of final year morning and evening student projects.

A number of projects on various themes of information technology, software engineering, electronics and telecommunication, prepared by students of IICT were showcased. The projects were related to solutions to various academic, social, management, business and industrial issues.

A number of students, faculty and IT experts witnessed efforts of IT scientists and appreciated their work.

Dr Burfat said that projects developed by young brains were highly appreciable. He said that IICT had contributed a lot to the university by preparing significant projects.

He said that efforts of students should be highlighted so that they might get proper attention in appropriate quarters and create employment opportunities for them.

IICT Director Prof Dr Imdad Ali Ismaili, Dr Azhar Ali Shah, Dr Khalilul Rehman Khombati, Prof Dr Nek Mohammad Shaikh and others were also present.
