Missing women

Author: Daily Times

Sir: Recently, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announced some disturbing news. The news was that at least 12.1 million women are missing from the electoral roles. This is a shocking revelation.

The situation has managed to get this bad because of mismanagement by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). Sadly, NADRA has no data regarding missing female voters as these women have no computerized National Identity Cards (NICs). For a very long time, NADRA has been mismanaging the database they are in charge of. With general elections expected in 2018, NADRA must get its house in order.
