Skipper shames govt for making Pakistan laughingstock

JHELUM: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan on Thursday criticised Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif for their recent statements, and instead suggested that they should put their own house in order.

Addressing a political gathering in Jhelum, Kaptaan said that both have disgraced the nation in the international community through their statements.

“The rulers are not concerned about the nation, but only their own vested interests.”

“The prime minister and foreign minister said that we should clean our house first,” he said. “I say that instead they should keep their own house in order first.”

Imran decried that the nation was being pushed to bankruptcy, while some people were getting increasingly rich. “I promise that one day we will also set the house in order,” he said.

“I am building the perfect team for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf,” he said, adding that a team cannot succeed where players play for themselves rather than the team such as the victorious 1992 World Cup team.

“The prosperity should not be for the Sharifs and Zardaris,” he said, adding that hue and cry is raised against court verdicts when there is accountability and justice is being served. He said that society cannot prosper when there is increasing polarization between the rich and the poor and justice is not served.

He said the nation is being indebted and taxed while the rulers are stashing their wealth abroad. This has resulted in over twenty million children out of school. Giving the example of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Imran said that there were no school teachers when they formed government in the province.

Imran lashed at Asif Zardari and Bilawal Zardari.

“Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto were leaders,” he announced. He said that leaders are made through constant struggle. “What did Zardari and Bilawal do? They just showed their inheritance papers and became leaders,” he claimed.

He also decried the dynastic politics, saying that Nawaz Sharif is nurturing his daughter Maryam as the political heir.

“What kind of democracy is this where a family is in power?” he questioned.

The skipper said that prosperity should not just be for the Sharifs and Zardaris, but it should be for the poor people of Pakistan.

He said that in Pakistan, electricity and gas are more expensive than the whole sub-continent.

He said that there is no comparison between Maryam Nawaz and Chaudhry Nisar.

“Nisar did a lot of hard work to reach where he is right now,” he said. “Similarly, there is no match of Aitzaz Ahsan and Bilawal.”

He said that if Nawaz had struggled hard to become a leader he wouldn’t have to ask people why he was disqualified.

“Nawaz is like the last Sultan of Turkey, he says do whatever you want to do with Pakistan but don’t touch my money,” he claimed.

He said that Sharifs and Zardaris are sucking the blood of this country. “We will defeat them to make a Naya Pakistan,” he said. The skipper thanked God for the Lahore High Court’s decision to release Model Town report.
