ISLAMABAD: An agreement had been inked between the governments of Malaysia and Pakistan for hiring of manpower from Pakistan and over 100,000 Pakistanis will get jobs in Malaysia in 2006, Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, the director general of the Bureau of Immigration and Overseas Employment, has said.

Talking to journalists on his return from Malaysia, he said that over Rs 2.5 million had been returned to the Malaysia-bound Pakistani workers on the intervention of the bureau. He said that the government of Pakistan has made it mandatory upon the promoters not to overcharge people for sending them to Malaysia. He said that some promoters were found involved in overcharging workers and the victims lodged complaints against them. He said that the overcharged money had been returned to the victims and all complaints had been disposed off.

About 7000 Pakistani workers are employed in Malaysia, he said.
